2023-24: Junior
In her second season at Nebraska, Ana Zamburek showed significant improvement, boosting her singles record to 18-10. She played at three different singles courts and held a 1-0 record at the No. 3 spot, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot and 7-3 at the No. 6 spot. The junior also had several doubles matches in the fall with Maria Taranova (0-1), Jillian Roa (2-2), Maja Pietrowicz (0-1) and Raphaelle Lacasse (2-1). Her primary partner was Anfisa Danilchenko. The duo went 15-7 on the season with a 2-0 mark on Court One and 9-6 record at Court Two. The pair held a season-high ranking of No. 25 in the ITA National Rankings.
Zamburek was honored with academic honors and was a 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team member off the court.
2022-23: Sophomore
During her first year with the Huskers, Zamburek posted a 4-20 overall singles record. She played three different positions, earning a 1-6 record at No. 3, a 1-3 mark at No. 2 and a 0-5 record at No. 1. In doubles, Carmen Zamburek earned an overall doubles record of 15-7 with her partners Raphaëlle Lacasse, Lucy Loy and Isabel Adrover Gallego.
Off the court, Carmen Zamburek earned a spot on the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
Zamburek, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, brings an impressive resume to Nebraska. She spent her freshman season at Baylor, helping the Bears to a season-high No. 11 ranking and a regular season record of 15-8. Zamburek saw action in both singles and doubles and was a major contributor at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
In her junior career, the member of the Dominican Republic Fed Cup Team was a doubles finalist in a 25K pro tournament, had a career-best ITF singles rankings at No. 247 in March of 2021 and made it to four singles finals and nine doubles finals.
Personal
The daughter of Martin Zamburek and Alexandra Martes Low, Ana was born on March 16, 2003, in Guayacanes, San Pedro de Macoris. Ana has one sister, Eva, and plans to major in textiles and apparel design.
