2018-19: Redshirt Junior
After 16 matches at No. 4 and only four at No. 3 last season, Micah Klousia stepped up to take over Nebraska’s No. 2 singles position – he completed all of his 21 spring matches at that spot. Despite several tough opponents, including six ranked in the top-125, Klousia notched eight wins in the spring, including a victory over No. 95 Christian Lakoseljac of Penn State, 6-3, 6-4, on April 7.
In the fall, Klousia teamed up with senior Toby Boyer to earn a berth among the nation’s top 32 doubles teams, as they qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 7-8. The Husker duo produced an impressive 4-1 run at the ITA Central Regionals on Oct. 18-22. Boyer/Klousia upset the tournament’s No. 1 seed (Arkansas) before knocking off teams from Creighton and Tulsa to earn a spot among the event’s four best pairs.
The Glendale, Mo., native concluded his career at Nebraska with 36 singles wins, including a personal-best 11 wins this year. He finished the season at 11-20 overall (8-13 Spring, 307 Big Ten). In doubles, he posted a 9-23 mark (4-16 Spring, 2-7 Big Ten).
2017-18: Redshirt Sophomore
As a sophomore, Klousia had his personal-best season in number of wins at Nebraska. He played most of his matches out of the No. 4 position, and concluded his singles campaign at 11-17 (1-10 Big Ten).
Klousia’s most impressive win of the season was at Michigan State on April 21. Playing against Spartan senior Jasper Koenen at the No. 4 spot, Klousia lost the first set 6-7, but rallied back to win the second 7-6. In the middle of the third set, all other singles matches had finished and the team score was tied at 3-3. With the match riding on Klousia's final set, he captured the set, 6-3, to give the Big Red a Big Ten win in East Lansing.
The Glendale High School graduate was the only Husker to win a match at the Big Ten Tournament, defeating Wisconsin's Chema Carranza, 6-3, 7-5, on April 26.
In doubles competition, Klousia finished the spring season with an 8-11 mark, including a 1-7 record in conference play. Playing mostly at No. 2 doubles, Klousia teamed with Dylan Bednarczyk to go 5-1 in the spring.
Klousia also had success in the classroom, earning academic All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season, as well as a place on the 2018 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for his efforts in the community.
2016-17: Redshirt Freshman
Klousia helped pace the Huskers by ranking second on the team with 10 singles victories. He also tied for the team lead with seven doubles victories. Klousia found confidence and experience in match play through his redshirt year and fall play and played a significant role for the Huskers in 2016-17. Klousia picked up all seven of his doubles victories with David Samardzija. The duo picked up five of their victories out of the No. 2 position.
Klousia claimed Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for men's tennis and was an academic All-Big Ten selection in 2017.
2015-16: Redshirt
Klousia redshirted in his first season at Nebraska. On the court, he worked to improve his skill while building strength and endurance. In the classroom, Klousia earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2016.
Before Nebraska
Klousia was a two-time state finalist and consistently ranked No. 1 and No. 2 among each age group in the Missouri Valley region. Klousia attended Glendale High School in Springfield, Mo., where he graduated as an honor student.
Personal
The son of James and Elizabeth Klousia, Micah was born on May 27, 1997. He majored in marketing and earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2019. He was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He was also a seven-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. A Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner in 2017, Klousia earned spots on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2017 and 2018.
