Rhett Hughes redshirted in his first season at Nebraska in 2023-24.

Before Nebraska
Hughes came to Nebraska from Edmond, Okla., where he graduated from Edmond Santa Fe High School in the spring of 2023. Hughes produced a stellar junior season, capturing a runner-up finish at the Oklahoma boy's junior amateur. He also placed third at the Red River Challenge, which consisted of the top juniors in Texas and Oklahoma.

"It's been great getting to know Rhett and he's going to be a fantastic fit to our program," Nebraska Head Coach Judd Cornell said. "He will have a great opportunity to grow as a player. He's shown that he can compete with some of the top juniors in the country on multiple occasions and I'm really excited for him because he's going to have a great career here."

Hughes also placed fourth at the AJGA GreatLife Junior Challenge along with finishing 10th at the Oklahoma 6A-1 State Championships.

Personal
The son of Nick and Ashley Hughes and Lisa and Jeff Adams, Rhett was born April 5, 2005. He has a brother, Chase Hughes, and sisters Bree Hughes and Emmy Adams. Rhett is majoring in finance at Nebraska.

Hughes chose Nebraska over Grand Canyon and Pacific.

“It’s closer to home, it’s a higher level of competition, and I’ve always loved Lincoln and its environment,” Hughes said. “I’ve always wanted to play in a Power Five conference.”
