Maurice Mazzccua played in one game in his first season at Nebraska in 2023. He made his Husker debut against Purdue and had a six-yard carry on the game's final play.

Mazzccua joined Nebraska after spending four years at West Chester University, an NCAA Division II program in West Chester, Pa. Mazzccua played in 14 games over the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Golden Rams, rushing 30 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns while catching six passes for 95 yards and one score. He also contributed in the return game, returning 13 kickoffs for 288 yards and two punts for 15 yards.

Mazzccua redshirted in 2019 before the 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, he played in 10 games and totaled 25 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns, including a 51-yard touchdown run at Mercyhurst. Mazzccua added four receptions for 22 yards, eight kickoff returns for 194 yards and two punt returns for 15 yards. As a sophomore in 2022, Mazzccua appeared in four games, accounting for 18 rushing yards, 73 receiving yards, 94 kickoff return yards and one receiving touchdown.

In high school, Mazzccua was a second-team All-Mid-Atlantic selection during his senior year at The Hill School. A Philadelphia native, Mazzccua was a first-team all-city selection as a junior for Simon Gratz High School. In his lone season at Simon Gratz, Mazzccua had 32 catches for 576 yards and seven touchdowns. He played his first two seasons at Neumann-Goretti High School, leading his team in rushing yards, receiving yards and scoring as a sophomore.

Maurice’s brother, Micah, is an offensive lineman at Florida, who previously spent three seasons at Baylor.
