Felder Earns Prestigious NCAA Scholarship

Former Nebraska softball standout Mya Felder has been selected as one of 13 national recipients of an NCAA Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year.

The NCAA annually awards $10,000 to 13 ethnic minorities who will be entering their initial year of graduate studies. The applicant must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or program that will help the applicant obtain a career in intercollegiate athletics, such as athletics administrator, coach, athletic trainer or a career that provides a direct service to intercollegiate athletics.

Felder is pursuing her Ph.D. and will begin her doctoral program in educational administration at Nebraska this fall. Felder earned her master’s degree in educational administration from Nebraska in 2022 and her bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in special education from Oregon in 2021.

A native of Fresno, California, Felder was a standout on the field and in the classroom in her two seasons at Nebraska in 2021 and 2022. She hit .350 in her two seasons as a Husker with 20 doubles, 15 homers and 78 RBIs. Felder earned all-region recognition in each of her two seasons and was also a two-time member of the Big Ten All-Defensive team. She helped Nebraska to the Big Ten Tournament title in 2022, when she was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and a member of the Big Ten All-Tournament team.

In the classroom, Felder was an Academic All-Big Ten selection and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was also named to the Academic All-District team as a senior.

Prior to Nebraska, Felder was an all-region selection at Oregon in 2021 and was the WAC Freshman of the Year at New Mexico State in 2019. In her collegiate career, the three-time all-region honoree hit .338 with 43 doubles, 34 home runs and 155 RBIs.

Since concluding her playing career in 2023, Felder has served as an assistant coordinator for strategic initiatives within the Nebraska Athletic Department.
