The concept for the Herman Team Grade Point Average awards was developed by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 1994 to recognize and promote academic achievement among intercollegiate teams. In recognition of the generous contribution made by Dick and Dale Herman to support the annual Academic Recognition Night for Student-Athletes, the Team GPA Award has been named in their honor.
