Steinforth Secures Big Ten Weekly Honor

Nebraska track and field’s Till Steinforth was announced as the Big Ten Men’s Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday by the conference office.

Steinforth, a senior from Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, scored the top world decathlon mark last weekend in Iowa, setting a new Drake Relays record of 8,265 points. Steinforth earned the 100m (10.65), long jump (7.90m, 25-11), shot put (15.28m, 50-1 ¾), 400m (47.96) and 100mH (14.09) event titles on his way to the decathlon win. 

This marks Steinforth’s fourth career Big Ten weekly award, and as a team, the Huskers have won five awards this indoor and outdoor season combined. 

Nebraska will compete next at Arizona’s Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday, May 3.
