2005: Andy Nelson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash (48.18) at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, and ran a leg on NU’s third-place 4x400-meter relay (3:10.66)... just missed qualifying for the final of the 400-meter hurdles at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, finishing ninth in the prelims with a time of 52.54... also ran on NU’s third-place 4x400-meter relay (3:07.61)... qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional in the hurdles outdoors, finishing 16th (52.45) during the preliminary round... opened the outdoor season with a season-best clocking of 51.39 in the hurdles to win the Stanford Invitational and qualify for the regional meet... ran on winning 4x400-meter relays outdoors at the Kansas Relays (3:12.12) and indoors at the Holiday Inn Invitational (3:16.06)... notched a personal-best outdoor time of 49.16 in the 400 meters at the John Jacobs Invitational... ran legs on runner-up 4x400-meter relays indoors at the adidas Classic and Husker Invitational... finished fifth indoors in the 400 meters at the Husker Invitational. 2004: Nelson earned his highest conference finish with a second-place medal in the 400-meter hurdles (51.52) at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships... despite suffering an injury mid-race in the 400-meter run at the indoor championships, he managed to finish seventh... set his personal-best 400-meter time of 47.94 in the preliminary round... career-fastest time of 51.29 in the 400-meter hurdles came at the Ward Haylett Invitational (third)... finished eighth in the hurdles at the Midwest Region Championships (52.30)... ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay that earned second at the conference outdoor meet (3:08.02) and fourth at regionals (3:10.20)... won the 400-meter dash (49.72) to open the indoor season at the Panther Open... earned third place at the Holiday Inn Invitational with a 48.98. 2003: Nelson clocked 49.14 in the 400 meters at the adidas Classic... clocked a season best in the 600 yards (1:11.97) in the prelims of the Big 12 Indoor Championships... ran a time of 1:23.31 in the 600 meters at the Panther Classic, where he finished third... won silver in the 600-yard run (1:12.12) at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational... outdoors finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 53.95 at the Big 12 Championships... clocked a personal-best time of 15.23 in the 110 hurdles in the prelims of the Ward Haylett Invitational, where he went on to finish sixth... was a member of the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay that broke the school record (56.32) and finished fifth in the Penn Relays. 2002: Redshirted due to injury. High School: Placed first in the 300-meter hurdles (37.77) and second in the 110-meter hurdles (14.18) at the 2001 Missouri Class 4A state meet... finished third in the 300-meter hurdles (38.74) and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.62) at the 2000 Missouri state meet.
