Two Husker Administrators Promoted

Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen announced today the promotion and expanded roles for two members of his leadership team. Audrey Polt will now serve as Associate Athletic Director for Legal Affairs/Associate General Counsel and Jonathan Bateman has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director/Administration.

“Audrey and Jonathan both serve critical roles in Husker Athletics as part of our senior leadership team, and their expertise will become even more vital in the evolving world of collegiate athletics,” Dannen said. “Audrey’s legal background is invaluable in the daily operation of an athletic department of Nebraska’s size and budget, and Jonathan has been our in-house expert in navigating the world of student-athlete compensation, NIL and the transition to revenue sharing.”

Polt has served as served as Associate General Counsel for the University of Nebraska since 2018. She has worked directly with athletics over the past four years, advising on various legal, regulatory, compliance and administrative matters related to athletics. A UNL and University of Nebraska College of Law graduate, Polt will take on expanded responsibilities within Husker Athletics, while also continuing to work closely with the General Counsel’s office. 

Bateman has been a member of the Huskers’ athletic department since 2011 and has served for the past two years as Assistant AD for NIL Strategy and Governance. He has worked closely with athletic administration, coaching staffs and 1890 Nebraska to help manage all aspects of Name, Image and Likeness activities for Husker student-athletes. Bateman will continue to handle many of the same responsibilities, while adding more duties in the area of sport administration. A Nebraska native, Bateman earned his bachelor’s degree and juris doctorate from Marquette University and has a sports law certificate from the National Sports Law Institute.
