Fidone Taken in Seventh Round of NFL Draft

Thomas Fidone II was the second Husker taken in the NFL Draft, as the tight end was taken in the seventh round (No. 219 overall) on Saturday.

Fidone becomes the first Husker tight end taken in the NFL Draft since Tracey Wistrom in 2002. Fidone had his best season as a Husker in 2024 when he had 36 receptions for 373 yards, with his reception total ranking fourth on the team. He had multiple catches in 10 of 13 games during his senior season and finished his career by leading the Huskers with five catches in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Fidone started eight games in 2023 when he led Nebraska with four touchdown catches and ranked second on the team with 25 receptions. The four touchdowns were the most by a Husker tight end since 2010.

He was the second Husker taken as Ty Robinson was taken in the fourth round by Philadelphia.
