Jim Elsener serves as an assistant learning specialist at Nebraska. He works directly with student-athletes across many sports and he assists with recruiting and training tutors.
Prior to working as a learning specialist at Nebraska, he was an elementary, middle and high school teacher for 29 years.
Elsener earned his teaching degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1990. He continued his education at UNL, earning a master’s degree in special education in 1992 and another master’s degree in American history from Nebraska Wesleyan.
Jim and his wife, Mary, have two children, four grandchildren and two golden retrievers.
