1994 (Senior)
Terry Connealy was a driving force behind Nebraska's 1994 national championship season. The defensive tackle was a team co-captain that helped the Huskers dominate on defense. he recorded 42 tackles (13 solo) and had 13 quarterback carries. He set his career high with nine assisted tackles and a season-high 13 tackles against Iowa State. In addition to earning second-team All-Big Eight honors on the field, Connealy captured first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades for the second straight season in 1994. He was also a three-time first-team academic All-Big Eight selection and earned a Kickoff Classic/NACDA Postgraduate Scholarship. Following his senior season, Connealy signed an NFL free-agent contract with the New York Giants.
1993 (Junior)
A first-team All-Big Eight choice by The Associated Press, Connealy finished as NU's ninth-leading tackler in 1993 with 45 stops, including 19 solos, to rank third among returning Huskers. He recorded 5.5 tackles for 29 yards lost, including 3.5 sacks for 24 yards lost. Connealy also had one pass breakup and was third on the team with 15 quarterback hurries. He had a season-high eight tackles against Oklahoma State and had five or more stops in three other games. He played much of the season slowed by strains in both shoulders. Connealy started in the 1994 Federal Express Orange Bowl and recorded six tackles (three solo). A standout in the classroom, Connealy claimed first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, while being named academic All-Big Eight for the second straight season.
1992 (Sophomore)
Connealy switched from defensive tackle to nose tackle at the beginning of his sophomore season. He alternated with starting nose guard, David Noonan. Connealy finished as NU's ninth-leading tackler with 47 stops, including 20 solos. He recorded 4.5 tackles for 24 yards lost, including 3.5 sacks for 21 yards lost. He made 15 tackles against Iowa State. He started in the 1993 Federal Express Orange Bowl and recorded seven tackles (five solo). In the classroom, he earned first-team academic All-Big Eight honors for the first time in his career.
1991 (Freshman)
Connealy lettered as a redshirt freshman, playing four regular-season games. He recorded two tackles, including an eight-yard sack against Missouri.
1990 (Redshirt Freshman)
A scholarship athlete, Connealy redshirted his first year at NU.
Before Nebraska (Hyannis HS)
Connealy played eight-man football in high school and was an all-class, all-state selection for Coach Chris Kraus. Playing tight end, linebacker and running back, he led Hyannis to a 7-2 record in 1989. Connealy also averaged 20 points per game in basketball, and qualified for the state track meet as a shot putter. He was also a straight A student.
Personal
The son of Marty and Donnie Connealy, Terry was born on June 10, 1972, in Alliance, Neb. He has four brothers and two sisters. His father played football for the Huskers in the 1950s, as did his brothers Jerry and Jack in the 1970s. A two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, Terry majored in agribuisness at Nebraska.
