Taveon Thompson played in two games as a sophomore, appearing against Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech.

Before Nebraska (Lincoln Southeast HS)
Thompson joins Nebraska as a wide receiver after being a two-way player at Lincoln Southeast High School, where he helped the Knights to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs as a sophomore, junior and senior. As a senior, Thompson made 45 tackles with three interceptions in addition to catching 14 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 18.9 yards per reception. For his efforts, he was named an honorable-mention all-state selection by both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald. Thompson was also a first-team all-city pick by the Journal Star. He chose to walk on at Nebraska over an FBS scholarship offer from Charlotte and Division II scholarship offers from Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State. Thompson also played basketball for Southeast, averaging 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior, according to MaxPreps.

Personal
Taveon was born on June 3, 2003, and he is the son of Mariah Young. He is majoring in child, youth and family studies. Thompson has volunteered his time with the Nebraska Football Road Race, the Huskers’ Day of Service and Thanksgiving hospital visits.
