2023 (Junior)
Bryce Benhart, a member of the Senior Bowl watch list who played as a graduate student, started all 12 games at right tackle in 2023 while earning honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors. His 12 starts increased his career total to 41 starts, all at right tackle. Benhart's 41 starts are tied with Jeremiah Sirles for the most starts by an offensive linemen in program history. Benhart also holds the record for most starts by a right guard in Husker history. Benhart's play on the line helped Nebraska rank second in the Big Ten in rushing.
Benhart's start in the opener at Minnesota was the 30th of his career at right tackle, becoming only the fourth Husker to start 30 games at right tackle. At Wisconsin, Benhart made his 40th start at right tackle to set a school record for starts at right tackle. In the final game against Iowa, Benhart made his 41st career start to tie for the most starts by an offensive lineman in Nebraska history.
2022 (Sophomore)
Benhart played in every game in 2022, including 11 starts at right tackle. His work on the line helped Trey Palmer set the Nebraska single-season receiving yardage record (1,043), while Anthony Grant rushed for the most yards (915) by a Husker since 2018.
2021 (Redshirt Freshman)
Benhart played in every game in 2021 with 10 starts at right tackle. Against Fordham, Benhart helped Nebraska total 300 yards rushing and passing in the same game for only the third time in program history.
2020 (Covid Season)
Benhart started every game at right tackle as a redshirt freshman. He was the only Husker offensive lineman to start every game at the same position in 2020. Benhart helped Nebraska’s offense total 620 yards in a season-ending win at Rutgers, and the Huskers finished with the second-best rushing attack in the Big Ten.
2019 (Redshirt)
Benhart played in three games and traveled to every road game as a true freshman in 2019, preserving his redshirt season. Benhart made his career debut at right tackle against Northern Illinois, and he also played on special teams against No. 15 Wisconsin and saw extensive time on the line and on special teams at Maryland. As the first of three Husker true freshman offensive linemen to play in 2019, Benhart became only the 12th true freshman offensive lineman to play in a game in school history.
Before Nebraska (Lakeville North HS)
Benhart was regarded as one of the top offensive line recruits in the nation after completing his career at Minnesota prep powerhouse Lakeville North High School. As one of the nation’s top recruits, Benhart was selected for the 2019 Army All-American Bowl.
Benhart helped Lakeville North High School and Coach Brian Vossen to a 13-0 record and a Class 6A state title in 2018. With Benhart providing a huge blocking presence, the Lakeville North offense scored at least 35 points seven times in its unbeaten season, capped by victories over Eden Prairie and Lakeville South in the state semifinals and finals. Benhart earned All-Minnesota honors from USA Today for his efforts as a senior. In 2017, Benhart helped Lakeville to a 7-4 record and a trip to the state playoffs. For his work on the line, Benhart was a second-team All-Minnesota selection by the Associated Press. Benhart was also a member of the varsity team in 2016, helping Lakeville North to a 9-2 record.
Benhart was also a standout on the wrestling mat. He finished fourth at the 2018 state wrestling championship and then went 34-0 as a senior en route to capturing the Minnesota 3A heavyweight title.
Benhart was ranked as the No. 2 player in Minnesota by both Rivals and 247Sports. He was ranked as the No. 13 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 153 overall recruit by 247Sports and the No. 18 offensive tackle and No. 139 player overall by Rivals, while he was also a member of the ESPN 300. Benhart also visited Tennessee and Wisconsin and had numerous other offers, including Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
Personal
Bryce was born on July 14, 2000, and he is the son of Gene and Patti Benhart. He is taking graduate classes in 2023 after earning his degree in criminology and criminal justice in May of 2023. He has volunteered his time with the Nebraska Football Road Race, the Huskers’ Day of Service and local hospital visits.
