Huskers Open Season with Intrasquad

Nebraska's swim and dive team is set for the annual Scarlet vs. Cream intrasquad meet at the Devaney Center Natatorium on Wednesday, Sept. 21, with events beginning at 4 p.m.

The Huskers are coming off a successful 2021-22 campaign, with many swimmers clocking some of the fastest times in Nebraska history in their respective events.

Berkeley Livingston and Maia Hall are the returning swimmers who scored the most points for the Huskers at the 2022 Big Ten Championships. Livingston, a senior captain from Lincoln, Neb., posted a 4:14.16 in the 400 IM prelims to qualify for B-finals at the conference meet, marking the third-fastest swim in school history. Hall (Whitby, England) led the way in the breaststroke events, qualifying for B-finals at Big Tens in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes while notching times that rank in the top five on the Nebraska all-time list in both events.

Livingston and Hall will team up to lead the Scarlet team, while senior Sara Troyer is a diver to watch for the Scarlet. Troyer (Goshen, Ind.) collected 11 meet titles and managed to break the 13-year-old three-meter facility record at Beyer Pool at the Iowa State dual last season.

Junior Sarah Barton and sophomore JoJo Randby are other returning Big Ten finalists to watch for the Scarlet.

Co-captains Madesyn Ronquillio and Shannon Stott will lead the Cream team. Ronquillio, a senior from Tracy, Calif., sparked the backstroke corps last season, earning 10 victories between the 100- and 200-backstroke events. Stott (St. Albans, Great Britain) was another major contributor in 2021-22, picking up 11 titles, including six in the 200 butterfly. Stott's most notable races included a 200 butterfly win at the Mizzou Invitational and knocking a second and a half off her prelims time at Big Tens to win the C-final.

Senior Molly Rosenthal and junior Lexi Kucera round out the returning conference scorers on the swim side, while Reagan Hinze will lead the divers for the Cream.

Nebraska will travel to Brookings to open regular-season action on Friday, Oct. 7 by taking on South Dakota State at 4 p.m.
