Arlington, Texas- The top-ranked Nebraska bowling team opened the Prairie View A&M Invitational with a record of 2-3 and a total pinfall of 4,904 on Friday at the International Training and Research Center, as NU sits in ninth-place in the overall standings. All three Husker losses on the day came to top-20 opponents.
In their first match of the day, the Huskers fell to No. 5 Sam Houston State by a score of 954-916. NU also dropped its next match to No.19 Louisiana Tech, 999-940.
The Huskers bounced back with their first win of the tournament over No. 8 Maryland Eastern Shore, 1,036-991.
Nebraska fell to No. 10 Farleigh Dickinson by a score of 1,060-1,015, before winning its final match of the day against No. 2 McKendree by a score of 997-953.
The Huskers will continue play at the PVAMU Invitational on Saturday at 9:25 a.m. (CT) with five traditional matches. Their first match of the day will be against No. 3 Arkansas State. Friday and Saturday’s combined results will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament, in which each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches, beginning at 8:25 a.m. (CT).
