On where team is at after bye week
“The bye week came at a good time. A lot of guys were down and banged up. Having a little week off, a week and a half, we were able to get some guys back and get ready and prepare for Indiana.”

On playing Indiana for the first time
“They have some games that are on film, so we can kind of get a feel for them. We got to watch them play Ohio State on Saturday. They played them tough, so we definitely aren’t taking this team lightly, like we don’t do any other team. We’re going to give them our best effort and play well.”

On Coach Riley feeling the team was not satisfied
“Having this bye week come into the middle of the season helped us. We’re 5-0. We have a lot of momentum. You can tell the guys were working hard at practice, lifting, and it definitely wasn’t a time to sit back and relax. We had to keep pushing forward and continue to work toward our goals.”

On the team being aware of who are walk-ons and who are on scholarship
“That’s definitely something that’s always been not something anyone knows. We were out to eat one time and Matt Farniok, the freshman lineman, didn’t know that I was a walk-on to start. It’s definitely something that people don’t know around here. You’re just a guy on the team, just trying to work hard and get a spot like everyone else.”

On out-of-state scholarship players feeding off of the passion of in-state walk-on players
“They’re not basing that just off of walk-ons. They’re football players. No matter what they would take pride in everything they do. Having a strong sense of pride from the walk-ons definitely helps elevate everyone’s game.”

On confidence of Tanner Farmer playing against Indiana
“He was out yesterday practicing when we had practice. Coach Cav will go out there and play who he thinks is ready. That’s for him and (Corey) Whitaker to battle out and see who’s going to perform the best for us on Saturday.”

On his leadership with new players playing on the line
“Fortunate for the two guards, they’re both seniors, so they’ve been around long enough they know exactly what they’re doing. So having those two guys really helped. (Cole) Conrad’s a really smart guy and prepares well each week. He was working out a little bit at center, so he has a good knowledge for football too so that helps as well.”

On being ranked nationally in the top 10
“That’s sweet. Definitely. We didn’t start the season ranked at all, but being a top-10 team is one of our goals. We aren’t trying to stop there. We want to keep winning. No matter what the ranking is, as long as we’re going out there and playing our best football that’s what matters most.”

On attaining more goals
“Everyone on the team has the same mindset. We talked about it all offseason long. Go out there, be perfect, and play your best and whatever happens is supposed to happen.”
