Napa, Calif. - Cassidy Stelzmiller produced the Nebraska women's golf team's best round of the tournament with a 74 on Monday in the second round of the Silverado Showdown.
Stelzmiller, a senior from Placerville, Calif., notched her two-over-par score on the 6,206-yard layout of the Silverado North Course to help the Huskers to a 311 in the second round. Nebraska enters Tuesday's final round in 18th place at 626.
Stelzmiller leads the Huskers through 36 holes in California with a two-round total of 153. She is tied for 59th individually in the 93-player field. Fellow senior Cassie Deeg added a second-round 77 to enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 66th at 155.
Freshman Haley Thiele contribute a 79 Monday to sit in a tie for 78th at 157, while senior Morgan Smejkal rounded out NU's second-round team score with an 81. Smejkal heads to the final round in 88th.
Stanford extended its lead in the team race with a three-under-par 285 on Monday. The Cardinal move to the final round with a 14-stroke lead over the co-hosts from Oregon. The Ducks teamed for a 292 Monday to close the second round at 585. Pepperdine sits in third at 588 after producing back-to-back rounds of 294.
Stanford's Lauren Kim owns a one-shot lead over Oregon Cathleen Santoso on the individual leaderboard. Kim fired a three-under 69 Monday to close the first 36 holes at 139. Santoso's second-round 73 paired with her opening-round 67 put at 140. Stanford's Casey Danielson matched Kim's 69 Monday and is just two strokes behind her Cardinal teammate at 141.
San Diego State's Emma Henrikson is in fourth at 142, in front of a six-way tie for fifth at even-par 144.
The Silverado Showdown concludes Tuesday with a shotgun start for the final round beginning at 10 a.m. (CT). Live scoring is available through GolfStat.com.
