Lincoln, Neb. - The Huskers practiced for a little under two hours Tuesday afternoon. The offense practiced in Memorial Stadium and the defense practiced in the Hawks Championship Center in order to prepare for Saturday's game against Rutgers.
Offensive Coordinator Danny Langsdorf spoke with the media after practice. He started off by talking about what he sees in the Rutgers defense.
"They're pretty young in the back end but they've played pretty well. Their corners are good cover guys. I think they've got a good pressure package that's a little scary," Langsdorf said. "They give you a lot of different looks there and they've given some people a lot of problems with it. They're pretty disruptive that way."
Coach Langsdorf went on to talk about whether or not he expects junior running back Terrell Newby to play on Saturday.
"As we go along in the week we'll see. He practiced pretty well today. It looks like he's getting healthy. We're just making sure he's 100%, but he looked pretty good today," Langsdorf said.
Coach Langsdorf also spoke about Tommy Armstrong Jr.'s resiliency to bounce back from mistakes.
"You just want to try and eliminate the problems. The turnovers are not good. They're drive killers that change games, so we got to eliminate that stuff," Langsdorf said. "I thought he responded well and came back and had a beautiful drive to win it. He just kept playing."
The Huskers will return to practice on Wednesday afternoon. Check back at Huskers.com for continued coverage of the preparation heading into Saturday's 2:30 p.m. (CT) game against the Scarlet Knights on BTN.
