Columbus, Ohio - Kylee Muir and Laura Barrow provided timely seventh-inning hits to lift the Nebraska softball team to a 7-5 victory over Ohio State in the first of two games Saturday at Buckeye field.

The game was tied 5-5 heading into the final inning. Senior Steph Pasquale doubled to begin the Huskers' seventh before Muir lined a one-out, RBI single off the wall in right to give the Huskers a lead. Barrow then added an insurance run with a clutch two-out, RBI single to left.

The two runs proved to be just enough, as Ohio State stranded runners at first and third in the bottom of the seventh.

Muir and Barrow each produced a pair of clutch hits. Muir was 2-for-4 with a game-tying two-run homer in the second inning and her game-winning RBI single in the seventh. Before Barrow's clutch seventh-inning single, the Kearney, Mo., native gave Nebraska its first lead with an RBI double in the second inning. Barrow finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, tying her career high in hits and RBIs.

Junior Kiki Stokes also recorded a pair of hits, while sophomore MJ Knighten had an RBI single to extend her hitting streak to 16 games.

In the circle, junior right-hander Emily Lockman (11-9) earned the victory. In her second straight complete-game conference victory, Lockman allowed only three runs to help Nebraska to improve to 19-16 on the season and 7-2 in Big Ten Conference play.

Olivia O'Reilly (9-6) took the loss for Ohio State, which fell to 18-15 on the season and 2-5 in league play.

The Buckeyes struck first in the game, using a two-out RBI double and RBI single to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The Huskers answered with three runs in the top of the second. Junior Dawna Tyson reached on an error to begin the inning before Muir launched a 3-1 pitch to left center for a game-tying, two-run homer. Sophomore Kat Woolman then drew a one-out walk before scoring on a two-run double from Barrow.

After escaping a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the third, the Huskers had to settle for two runs in the top of the fourth. Nebraska had two runs in and the bases loaded with no outs, but was unable to add to the lead. Sophomore Cassie McClure, Woolman and Barrow all walked to begin the inning, before Stokes was hit by a pitch to force in a run. Knighten then produced an RBI single down the right field line before three consecutive ground outs ended the inning, including two ground outs where Ohio State recorded a force out at home.

Caitlin Conrad cut the lead to 5-3 with a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. An error then extended the inning before Cammi Prantl tied the game with a two-run homer to left.

Neither team threatened again until the Huskers' two-run seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, a one-out single and a two-out single gave Ohio State the tying runners on base, but Lockman snagged a ground ball from Taylor White and threw to first to wrap up the victory.

Nebraska and Ohio State wrap up their doubleheader with game two.
