The No. 9 Nebraska rifle team came from behind to defeat No. 5 Murray State by a score of 4,651-4,640 at the NU Rifle Range on Friday.
Nebraska trailed Murray State after the first relay but made up for lost ground in the afternoon. In smallbore, Nebraska was led by sophomore Lauren Phillips who fired a 578. In addition, Marissa Major finished with a career-high score of 575 in smallbore, beating her previous high by three points. The team finished with a total smallbore score of 2,296.
Rachel Martin and Kelsey Hansen both tallied air rifle scores over 590 to help the Huskers get the win. Martin scored a 592, while Hansen ended with a 591. The Huskers’ overall air rifle score was 2,355.
For the Racers, Tessa Howald led the way in smallbore with a 577 along with Kelsey Emme who finished with a 589 in air rifle. Murray State ended with a smallbore score of 2,297 and an air rifle score of 2,343.
