The Nebraska Lifeskills department has started the tradition of implementing Husker Life Seminars to enrich the Nebraska student athletes’ overall experience. At each seminar the student athletes will hear from inspirational speakers, fellow athletes and even perform in interactive skits.
This past week notable speaker Jon Gordon came to speak with the student athletes. He has been visiting the University of Nebraska to encourage and assist student athletes as well as coaches and staff on how to have the most successful year.
Last year, Gordon spoke about the five C’s on how to become a successful team. High performing teams don’t happen by accident. They are built and developed by leaders who focus on building a great team and team members who strive to be part of a great team.
· Communicate: “You can’t have a great team without strong relationships and you can’t have strong relationships without great communication and trust.”
· Connect: “Many teams communicate but the great ones also connect.”
· Commitment: “Communication and connection build the trust that generates the commitment that fosters the team that delivers results.”
· Care: “Those who care build great things that others care about.”
· Contagious Energy: “Great teams are filled with positive energy and it’s important for each person on the team to know that they are contagious.”
This year, Gordon talked about his book Training Camp he spoke about the ten tips to be your best.
· The best know what they want
