Nebraska's success early on in the 2009 season has been reflected in the first NCAA Division I women's soccer statistics of the year. Following three straight wins, the Huskers have risen to a No. 3 national ranking in goals scored with 26 overall (4.33 avg.) on the season.
Nebraska has not been held scoreless all year and has scored at least two goals in five of six games. The Huskers have scored 20 goals in the last three games alone and are just six short of reaching the Nebraska Soccer Field season record (26 in 2005 and 2006).
NU has been very efficient by attempting 71-of-151 shots on goal for an impressive .470 shot percentage, while outnumbering their opponents in corner huskers, 44-16.
Individually, freshman Morgan Marlborough leads the NCAA in goals (10), goals per game (1.667), points (24) and points per game (4.00). She has found the back of the net in all but one game and is already Nebraska's highest goal and point totals in a season since 2006.
Nebraska keeps its homefield advantage for the fourth and fifth straight games this weekend when the Huskers host South Dakota (Sept. 18 at 5 p.m.) and Arizona State (Sept. 20 at Noon) at the Nebraska Soccer Field.
