Lincoln - The Nebraska football team practiced for over 2 ½ hours inside the Hawks Championship Center on Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Bo Pelini said he was pleased with the overall progress of the team after hitting the halfway point in the spring.
“I’ve seen a lot of progress, we’re getting better in some areas,” Pelini said. “Overall, we’re a better football team than we were seven practices ago. We’re seeing progress, but we’ve still got a long ways to go.”
Pelini said he was happy with the way defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was taking charge of the defense.
“He’s doing well,” Pelini said. “He’s practicing well and doing some good things. He’s not a real vocal guy, but he plays with intensity and he’s a heck of a football player, so the guys see that and rally around him.”
The Huskers are working on installing some plays and schemes for the Spring Game on April 18, but Pelini said he doesn’t see that as a deadline to get things done.
“There’s no deadline,” Pelini said. “Our deadline is next September, and there’s a lot that has to be done between now and then.”
