Lincoln ? The Big 12 Conference has named five Nebraska wrestlers to the 2009 Academic All-Big 12 team, the league office announced today. The honorees are the most for NU since 2004.
Junior Craig Brester led the way for the Huskers with a first-team selection for a third consecutive season. The Howells, Neb., native was also named to his third Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll last month. Fellow junior Stephen Dwyer earned first-team honors this year after being named to the second team last season, while redshirt freshmen Tucker Lane and Andy Pokorny collected first-team accolades for the first time in their careers. Senior Robert Sanders claimed second-team honors.
First-team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade-point average, and second-team honorees have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. A complete list of Husker wrestler honorees, including their year, weight, hometown and major, is provided below.
