After several former Huskers chose to hang up their cleats the past two seasons, Nicole Trimboli (2001-04) is the lone former Husker playing in the National Pro Fastpitch league this summer. Trimboli is on the Chicago Bandits roster for the third consecutive season.

Trimboli and Peaches James (2001-04) each played for Chicago last season, while Anne Steffan (2002-05) last played in the National ProFastpitch league in 2006. Each played for Chicago that season and Steffan was an All-NPF selection while ranking second in the league with a .400 average.
A total of five former Huskers played in the NPF in 2005. James, Steffan and Trimboli were named to the all-star team, while Trimboli's Akron Racers defeated Steffan's Chicago Bandits for the 2005 crown. Nebraska's three all-star selections trailed only UCLA for the most all-star picks out of all college and university softball programs in the nation.
