Lincoln - Nebraska rifle athletes Kristina Fehlings and Stacy Underwood were among 53 Nebraska student-athletes to graduate in the spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 5, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Fehlings, a Fairfax, Va., graduated with a finance degree, while Underwood (Anaheim, Calif.) earned her bachelor's degree in nutrition, fitness and health promotion.
The impressive 2007 graduating class included nine student-athletes who combined for 16 All-American awards, including eight-time All-American Fehlings.
Fehlings graduated as one of the most decorated rifle athletes in Nebraska history. During her junior season, Fehlings led the Huskers to a program-best second-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championships, as she claimed the NCAA individual air rifle title. In addition to her athletic success, Fehlings earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's honor roll six times.
Underwood ended her Nebraska career as an outstanding leader on and off the range. Underwood was not only the 2006-07 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Representative, but earned Great American Rifle Conference Senior-of-the-Year honors. She also made first-team all-conference in air rifle and combined and second-team NRA All-American in air rifle and smallbore during her senior year.
The spring graduating class of 53 is added to the December class of 31 graduates to bring the total number of Husker student-athletes graduating during the 2006-07 academic year to 84 before summer commencement exercises in August. Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the nation with an exhausted eligibility graduation rate of 94 percent.
