Huskers Place 11 on Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll

The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country team had 11 runners named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll on Friday, awarding those who achieved a 3.0 or higher grade-point average during the 2006 fall semester.

Eleven women and one member of the men’s team received the honor, including junior Joslyn Dalton, who earned a 4.0 grade-point average making this her fourth award of her career. Junior Betsy Miller also made headlines by claiming the honor for the fifth consecutive semester. Kim Pancoast, the only senior on the 2006 women’s team, ran her total to six. Kayte Tranel, who completed her eligibility in 2005 was also named to the Big 12 team.

Sophomore Kyle Custer was the only male runner named to the team, making it his third in a row since he came to Nebraska in the fall of 2005. Six women accomplished that same feat in junior Channing Anseth, and sophomores Rachel Carrizales, Ari Goldstein, Jen Pancoast, Sara Prince and Natalja Zarcenko. Junior Val Zajac picked up her fourth.

Nebraska had a total of 270 honorees through 23 sports, including 33 who had a 4.0 GPA.
