Lincoln, Neb. -- Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson has named Pat Logsdon the Director of Athletic Administration. Logsdon has agreed to begin immediately while this permanent position is being defined. In her 23 years with the athletic department, Logsdon has served a variety of roles, most recently as the director of football operations for the past six years.
"One of the first things I did when I accepted the position of Athletic Director at Nebraska was to call Coach Solich and indicate to him that I would like to have Pat Logsdon assist me with the overall athletic administration," said Pederson. "I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to work with Pat again and I appreciate the willingness of Pat and Frank to adjust to our department's immediate needs."
Looking forward to the challenge of the new position, Logsdon said, "While I have thoroughly enjoyed my 23 years with the football program, I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work directly with Steve again. I look forward to the challenges of my new role and working with all of the sports within the athletic department."
Logsdon will manage the organization and coordination of all administrative operations, including the athletic director's schedule, which will allow Pederson more opportunities to be out in the public.
Pederson said Logsdon's organizational skills will be key to his ability to make best use of his time. "Having Pat here to provide direct administration to our immediate day-to-day staff needs will allow me to have more time to meet and get to know our fans and donors and other constituents," said Pederson.
Logsdon will also assist Pederson with the athletic department long-range plans, providing research and support material. She will direct the administrative staff organization for all postseason play, will maintain and review game contracts, provide oversight on the athletic budget and serve as a liaison to the Big 12 and NCAA.
Nebraska was the first Division I-A football school to hire a female as its director of football operations, promoting Logsdon to the position in 1996 when Pederson left to become the Athletic Director at Pittsburgh.
As the director of football operations, Logsdon oversaw the organization of all recruiting functions including coaches
