NU squeaks by No. 15 Buckeyes, defeats No. 14 Beavers
Lincoln, Neb.-- The seventh-ranked Nebraska wrestling team upped its overall mark to 5-0 on Saturday with two wins over ranked opponents at Lincoln Northeast High School. NU opened with a 23-10 win over No. 14 Oregon State, then squeaked by with a 20-19 win over No. 15 Ohio State.
Against the Beavers, the Huskers took seven of the 10 weights, including major decisions from both of their top-ranked wrestlers, Todd Beckerman and Brad Vering. In a battle of top-10 ranked wrestlers at 157 pounds, second-ranked Bryan Snyder controlled seventh-ranked Eric Jorgenson of Oregon State with a 9-4 win.
In the nightcap, things got a little tougher for the Big Red. Following a Charles McTorry victory at 184 pounds, all eyes were on the 197-pound matchup. Third-ranked Nick Preston, who nearly defeated Vering at last year
