The fourth-ranked Nebraska softball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday night, falling to No. 1 UCLA, 5-1, at the UNLV Desert Classic. With the loss, the Huskers fell to 8-1, while UCLA improved to 9-1 on the season.
Junior righthander Peaches James (5-1) was the losing pitcher, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out seven Bruins in six innings of work. Freshman right-handed pitcher Summer Tobias held UCLA scoreless in the seventh inning. Bruins ace Keira Goerl picked up the win for UCLA, allowing one run on four hits.
