Laramie, Wyo.- Defending Big 12 Champions Bryan Snyder and Jason Powell tallied a pair of pins to the lead the ninth-ranked Nebraska wrestling team to a 30-12 victory over Wyoming Saturday night at the Multipurpose Gymnasium in Laramie, Wyo. NU improves its dual record to 4-0, while Wyoming falls to 1-1

Wyoming heavyweight Brad Steele gave the Cowboys an early 3-0 lead with a 9-7 decision over NU junior Pat Miron. The match stood tied at six with 35 seconds remaining, but Steele scored a takedown to take control of the match. Miron falls to 5-7 on the year.

At 125 pounds, fourth-ranked Powell gave the Huskers a 6-3 lead with his eighth pin of the season at the 2:36 mark over Reynold Candelaria. Powell, who had Candelaria in a pinning combination for nearly two minutes before scoring the fall, upped his overall record to 12-1 on the season.

Sophomore Joey Malia extended the NU advantage to six with a 5-3 win over 19th-ranked Kelly McConville at 133 pounds. With the match tied at three late in the third period, Malia, who is now 6-3 on the season, got in on a takedown with 45 seconds remaining to come away with the upset.

After Wyoming cut the Husker lead to three at 141 pounds, sophomore Jeremy Baker again put Nebraska up by six with a 9-2 win over Chad Plummer. Baker, a native of Blue Springs, Mo., ups his record to 7-6.

Snyder took control of the dual for the Huskers with his second pin in as many nights, scoring the fall at the 1:22 mark over 17th-ranked Levi Prevost. Currently ranked No. 1 at 157 pounds, Snyder has notched bonus points in each of his 14 matches (six technical falls, four pins and four major decisions).

Senior 165-pounder Tony Denke put Nebraska up 21-6 with a 12-5 victory over Justin Salas, improving his record 7-2 on the season.

Nebraska forfeited at 174 pounds, prior to eighth-ranked Travis Pascoe picking up his 10th victory of the season at 184 pounds with an 11-7 win over Kevin Kessner.

At 197 pounds, fifth-ranked Justin Ruiz won by forfeit putting the final team score to 30-12. Ruiz is now 13-2 on the year.
