The fourth-ranked Nebraska softball team exploded for a five-run fifth inning to capture a 6-1 victory over third-ranked and defending national champion California Saturday at the UNLV Desert Classic. With the victory, the Huskers improved to 8-0 on the season, while Cal fell to 9-1.

The Huskers will continue competition at the tournament when they take on top-ranked UCLA tonight at 6:30 p.m. Central.
