Nebraska splits doubleheader with No. 20 Texas

Austin, Texas - The fourth-ranked Nebraska softball team split a doubleheader in two dramatic extra-inning games at No. 20 Texas Saturday, defeating the Longhorns 4-3, in nine innings in game one before falling 3-2 to UT in eight innings in second game of the twinbill. With the split, the Huskers are now 34-7 overall and 4-2 in the Big 12 Conference.

Peaches James (16-5) was the winning pitcher in the first game, allowing three runs - including two earned - off four hits while striking out five in her 13th complete game of the season. Texas ace Cat Osterman (22-7) took the loss in game one, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and striking out 13 Huskers in 9.0 innings of work.

James also took the loss in game two after relieving Leigh Ann Walker (18-2) before the top of the seventh. Walker allowed two runs, including one earned, on six hits in 6.0 innings of work. James allowed one hit in one inning, as Texas
