Lincoln -- The Husker Nation Tour is coming to your hometown on Thursday, June 26. Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson, the Husker football coaches, athletic department representatives and select Husker players will all take part in the 15-stop tour. Five different tour groups will visit with fans, boosters and media in a one-day goodwill tour with each tour group visiting three Nebraska cities for breakfast, lunch and dinner functions.
Athletic Director Steve Pederson announced on Tuesday that Interact, a Lincoln-based company, has agreed to sponsor the tour, covering the cost of transportation to all 15 stops on the tour. "We are grateful for the assistance of Interact and Lynn McKee," Pederson said. "We have had many individuals and businesses in many towns step up to the plate to help make this tour successful, and Interact's monetary assistance has been a key factor."
Last week the players attending the tour were announced. Per NCAA rules, two football student-athletes may travel with each tour group. Because of a class conflict, senior tight end Phil Peetz will replace Judd Davies on the tour to Valentine/North Platte/Scottsbluff. Avoiding all summer class conflicts, the following Huskers will go on the tour. Defensive tackle Patrick Kabongo and tight end Phil Peetz to Valentine/North Platte/Scottsbluff; defensive tackle Ryon Bingham and fullback DeAntae Grixby to Grand Island/Norfolk/Columbus; defensive back Pat Ricketts and quarterback Jammal Lord (last two stops only) to South Sioux City/Blair/Fremont; fullback Steve Kriewald and linebacker Lannie Hopkins to Hastings/Lexington/Kearney; and defensive tackle Jason Lohr and wide receiver Ben Zajicek to Fairbury/Beatrice/Nebraska City.
"Nebraska has the best fans in the nation and we want to personally thank them for all they have done for this great University," Pederson said. "The Husker Nation Tour is an excellent way to introduce the state to the newest members of our coaching staff, and to renew old acquaintances."
Pinnacle Sports Productions has served a valuable role in helping to promote the tour by utilizing Pinnacle Sports Network stations across the state. Sports Nightly will broadcast live from the Columbus Elks Country Club from 6 to 8 p.m. with live reports from each of the evening tour stops.
The Tour includes 15 different cities across the state. The chairperson, time and site of the event is listed below. To obtain tickets or more information on the event in your area, please call the chairperson at the number listed below.
