Lincoln - Nate Johnson scored a career-high 25 points, as Nebraska needed overtime to put away a pesky Denver squad, 79-75, in front of 7,012 at the Devaney Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
Johnson, whose total topped his previous high of 23 in a loss to Ball State in November, scored 12 of his points in the final two minutes of regulation and in overtime, helping the Huskers improve to 7-5 with their second straight dramatic finish.
The 6-2 guard hit 7-of-16 shots from the floor and 9-of-13 from the foul line, as his heroics down the stretch helped NU overcome a poor performance from the foul line for much of the afternoon.
The Huskers struggled from the foul line, missing 14 of their first 25 shots from the line before converting 6-of-7 in the final 2:04 of regulation and 7-of-10 more in the five-minute overtime session to finish 24-of-42 from the line.
Trailing 64-61 with 2:04 remaining, Johnson scored NU
