Huskers Look to Corral Cowboys
The seventh-ranked Nebraska wrestling team is set to face off against the Wyoming Cowboys, this Saturday, Jan. 25 starting at 3 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The dual with the Cowboys was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but was moved up because of scheduling conflicts with other University of Nebraska athletics events. The dual will be held in the main arean at the sports center.
Scouting the Opponents
The Cowboys enter the match with an 7-3 record and are coming off of a 3-0 performance at the 2003 Cowboy Duals.
Wyoming is lead by its 165-pounder Levi Prevost. He is the only Cowboy ranked in the latest W.I.N poll and he enters the match ranked 11th. Provest is 22-3 on the season and 10-0 in dual matches.
Wyoming is coached by Steven Suder, who is in his 14th year at Wyoming. He owns a 89-92-2 record during his tenure in Laramie.
Nebraska owns an 23-13 edge over the Cowboys in the all-time series, including last year's, 30-12 victory in Laramie.
Ruiz scheduled to make Return for Huskers
Sophomore All-American Justin Ruiz is set to return to the Husker lineup against Wyoming. It will mark Ruiz's first action since injuring his hamstring on Dec. 6 at the Las Vegas Invitational.
Ruiz has a 4-1 record this season and remains ranked second in the nation at 197-pounds despte being out of action for nearly two months.
The Last Time Out (@ Cal Poly and Fresno)
The University of Nebraska wrestling team split its weekend duals defeating Cal Poly, 22-21 in San Luis Obispo and losing to Fresno State, 19-16 in Fresno last Saturday.
