Husker Women Set to Compete at Big 12 Championships - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site

When the Nebraska women step up to compete at the Big 12 Championships this Saturday in Columbia, Mo., they will face off against three nationally ranked teams. In the latest FinshLynx poll released Oct. 21, Colorado came in highest of the Big 12 schools in third place with 364 points followed by host school Missouri in 11th place (259 points) and Texas in 28th place with (38 points).

Five women will compete for Nebraska at the seventh annual Big 12 Championships, led by junior front-runner Ann Gaffigan. Gaffigan finished first for the Huskers at the 2001 Big 12 Championships, in Norman, Okla., coming in seventh overall. In a time of 21:10.5, Gaffigan finished behind returning competitors Molly Austin (1st) of Colorado, Amy Mortimer (3rd) of Kansas State and Tera Moody (5th) of Colorado.

Gaffigan Among the Elite
As a freshman in 2000, Ann Gaffigan of Springfield, Ill., had an impressive start to her cross country career at Nebraska. Joining a team of women that had finished 16th at the NCAA Championships in 1999, the highest finish for the women since 1994, Gaffigan practiced and competed with some of Nebraska
