Husker Men and Women Win First Indoor Home Meet

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska men's and women's track and field squads both claimed team titles in a quadrangular against Kansas State, Colorado and Abilene Christian on Saturday before a crowd of 2,237 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The NU women finished with 192 points, ahead of Kansas State (135), Colorado (131) and Abilene Christian (87). The NU men finished with 190 points, ahead of Kansas State (190), Colorado (108) and Abilene Christian (78).
The Husker women were led by senior Lesley Owusu, who recorded an automatic qualifying and personal-best time of 52.72 in the 400 meters. Competing in the event for the first time this year, Owusu posted the nation's fastest 400-meter time this season. She scored nine team points, giving the Huskers a 77-51 lead over Kansas State.
"I wasn't expecting to run that fast," said Owusu, who also won the 200 meters (24.06), "but I'm really delighted. I felt very relaxed. This gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of the season. I know I can go faster."
Also recording a provisional mark for the Huskers was sophomore Leann Boerema, who finished second in the shot put with a mark of 50-2
