High Jumpers Pace Nebraska at Kansas Relays

Lawrence, Kan. -- Led by a first-place finish from senior All-American Carrie Braness, the Nebraska track and field team boasted the top three finishers in the high jump at the Kansas Relays on Saturday.

Braness cleared 5-10, while NU senior All-American Jessica Thompson and freshman Na'Tassia Vice cleared 5-8 to finish second and third, respectively.

On the men's side, the Huskers were paced by junior Derek Zachary, who finished fourth (14.10) in the invitational 110-meter hurdles. In the collegiate 110-meter hurdles, Nebraska sophomore David Davis finished first with a time of 14.17. Senior Kevin Carter and sophomore Calvin Williams finished third (14.31) and fourth (14.52), respectively.

The Nebraska women also fared well in the 100-meter hurdles as sophomore Emily Waibel won the event with a time of 13.63. Senior Rene Pretorious finished third (13.95).

Several other Huskers competed at the event on Saturday, including: sophomore Lanette Mosier, who finished second in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 11-5
