Austin, Texas- Junior Angie Matheu and freshman Amie Buoy led the Huskers Friday night at the Texas Invitational in Austin. The Huskers currently sit in eighth place (72 points), just seven points behind seventh-place Rice (79). Texas leads the field with 598 points, while Southern Cal (477) and Arizona (462.50) round out the top three.
Buoy continued an excellent freshman season with a seventh-place finish on the one-meter springboard (247.50), just a day after finishing eighth on the three meter.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Matheu took home 14th, after touching the wall in 1:06.36 (1:06.60p). Freshman Lana Baker finished 18th in the same event, touching the wall in 1:05.86.
Also scoring for the Huskers were freshman Courtney Peterson who finished 20th in the 400-yard individual medley after touching the wall in 4:31.88. Fellow freshman Danielle Erickson finished the 100-yard backstroke in 57.77 to place 21st in the event.
