Conklin Leads NU In Opener

Lincoln - Brian Conklin tied his career-high with 18 points to lead four Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska opened the 2001-02 season with a 69-57 victory over North Carolina A&T in front of 6,166 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Tuesday evening.
Conklin scored 13 of his 18 points before halftime, as he finished the evening hitting 6-of-12 shots from the floor, including four three-pointers. His four three-pointer was one shy of his career high (5) set at Baylor last season.
The 6-11 sophomore from Hubbard, Ohio, was one of four Huskers to finish in double figures, as freshman point guard Jake Muhleisen finished with 13 points, on 6-of-10 shooting, and eight assists in 32 minutes of action. He also committed just one turnover, as the Huskers
