  • Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (Fall 2003; Spring 2004; Fall 2004; Spring 2005; Fall 2006)

2007 Outlook: When pitching coach Dave Bingham is asked who the most improved pitcher on the staff is from a year ago, junior Matt Foust is the answer he gives without hesitation • Returned to campus as a more mature and focused pitcher and that work ethic has been evident in his preparation for the 2007 campaign • Shed 20 pounds from a year ago which has helped increase his velocity, as he consistently throws in the low 90s and has better command of his pitches • Has seen limited duty in his first three seasons at Nebraska, but possesses some of the most electric stuff on the pitching staff • Could challenge for the Huskers’ No. 4 starter spot or work out of the bullpen in a number of roles • Is an excellent student who is a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2006: Saw time as a starter and in relief, going 0-0 with a save and a 3.18 ERA in three appearances • Held opponents to a .133 average over 5.2 innings, but struggled with his control at times, walking four and hitting six • Collected the save in the season opener at Charleston Southern on Feb. 16, allowing one hit over three scoreless frames • Made his first college start against Illinois State on March 14, allowing two runs on just one hit in a game NU won 10-7 • Fired a scoreless inning of relief against Northern Colorado on March 29.

2005: Foust was one of five freshmen to contribute to a Husker staff that ranked second nationally with a 2.69 ERA • Made five relief appearances, recording a save and a 2.57 ERA • Fanned five and allowed six hits in seven appearances • Picked up his first save against North Dakota State, pitching the final three innings of a 10-0 win on April 13 • Fanned a season-best two Bison in the longest outing of his career • Allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning in NU’s season opener at Hawaii-Hilo on Feb. 17 • Tossed a shutout inning of relief against South Dakota State on March 12 • Pitched a scoreless inning of relief against Northern Illinois on May 17.

2004: Foust missed the 2004 season after suffering a shoulder injury.

Blue Valley West High School: Foust was one of the top high school pitchers in the Midwest, playing for Coach Bill McDonald at Blue Valley West High School • Named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Kansas, leading the Jaguars to a 17-6 record and a regional title in 2003 • Compiled a 3-3 record with a 1.42 ERA as a senior, fanning 61 hitters in 42 innings en route to first-team All-Johnson County Conference honors • Lettered for three seasons at BVWHS • Went 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA, striking out 45 in just 23.2 innings during his junior year to help Blue Valley West to an 18-3 mark • Set a school mark with six saves and had a 1.81 ERA as a sophomore • Was named to the Principal’s Honor Roll for four semesters and was named to the foreign language honor society • Selected NU over Wichita State and Arkansas.

Personal: Born on Oct. 8, 1984, in Fort Scott, Kan. • Parents are John and Ginger Foust • Has one sister (Abby) • Is an accounting major who carries a 3.139 GPA.
