2014 Outlook
Austin Williams heads into his senior season with a goal of earning playing time at linebacker while continuing to play a key role on special teams. The walk-on from Omaha helped the Huskers field one of the Big Ten’s top kickoff coverage units in 2013, while also adding depth at linebacker.

Williams will compete for playing time at the outside linebacker spots and helps make the linebacking corps one of the deepest on the Husker roster. Williams began his career in the secondary before moving to linebacker during the 2012 season.

2013 (Junior)
Williams played in 10 games and made a tackle on kickoff coverage at Penn State and forced a fumble on the play. He added a tackle on special teams against Georgia.

2012 (Sophomore)
Williams played in 13 games on Nebraska’s special teams and as a reserve linebacker. He made four tackles, with single tackles in four games.

2011 (Redshirt Freshman)
Williams added depth in the secondary, but did not appear in a game.

2010 (Redshirt)
Williams redshirted and worked on the scout team defensive unit.

Before Nebraska (Burke HS)
Williams, who was an honorable-mention Class A all-state selection by both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star, finished his senior year with 102 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and six pass breakups from his linebacker spot.
On the offensive side of the ball, Williams rushed 48 times for 450 yards and seven touchdowns and also caught seven passes for 60 yards and three scores.

Austin is the son of Rodney and Marg Williams, and he was born on Oct. 2, 1991. He is a finance major and earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2012. He also was selected to the 2011 Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll. Williams has volunteered at People’s City Mission, Husker Hotline, Husker Heroes, and at local hospital visits.
